rinoplastia-em-sao-pauloRhinoplasty is the plastic surgery used to harmonize the contour and size of the nose to the rest of the face.

1. What type of anesthesia is used for rhinoplasty?
In most cases, we choose local anesthesia and sedation. A medication is applied so the patient can sleep quietly. Later, local anesthesia is applied in the region, with no discomfort to the patient.

There are two types of rhinoplasty: closed and open.
• Closed: no scars on the skin. All nose remodeling is accomplished through the inside, and scars will only exist on the mucous region inside the nose
• Open: it is performed through a small incision in the columella (slightly above the columella (slightly above base of the nose). This scar is often imperceptible in the postoperative period

3. When will the stitches be removed?
In closed rhinoplasty, the stitches are all internal and need not be removed. In the open surgery, the stitches are removed between 5 and 7 days without discomforts to the patient.

4. Is the surgery very painful?
Contrary to what many people think, rhinoplasty is not a painful surgery. Even when we need to fracture the nose, the common medication we prescribe for the patient to take at home will make sure they feel no pain.

5. Does the incision get very swollen and purple?
During the first 5 to 7 days, edema (swelling) and ecchymoses (purple) may be present. But, this will depend on how each patient responds to surgery. The cases of open rhinoplasty, swelling may be longer lasting, which will gradually regress up to 1 year after surgery.

6. How long does the surgery last?
     From 1 to 2 hours.

7. How long will I need to stay in hospital?
     From 8 to 12 hours.

8. Do you have to wear a cast after surgery?
Only in cases where fracturing is indicated. The cast will be removed on the 7th day after surgery. It is usually not uncomfortable for the patient.cirurgia-no-nariz
